100 ways to style your hair: Formal hairstyling
I've got a special occasion coming up and I've been trying to find ways to style my hair. Now, back when I was a creamy crackhead, I would've curled my hair, and you know what? I still can, so I think I will.
What? You can curl 4a/b/c hair?
Yes, yes you can. In fact there are tons of way to do it. I'll start with the fastest (And easiest)
Lisa Akbari's, curly fro:
If you are transitioning, this look is perfect! For my #4 ladies (and Dudes?) this is pretty much the fastest way to curl your hair. Just make sure your hair is dry (But moisturized!). I'd do 'em slightly smaller than Lisa does for a curllier look. Here's the technique:
Bantu Knot out:
This look actually resembles curl locs more than anything, but they are still cute!! They'l take about the same time or a little longer than the curly fro to style. IF you want your hair to be really curly, do a blow out first! Peep the tutorial:
The twist out:
This is probably the most popular way naturalistas curl/style their hair. While both the tame, and loosed variants offer natural looking, long lasting and stylish results, twisting is time consuming. So if you are looking for an easy way to achieve the curly look....Not this one!
Here's the thing, as long as it takes me to twist my hair (5 hours.....), I love the results this method give me. That is why I included it. So anyway, the tutorial:

The coil out:
This method works perfectly for the TWA (TEENY WEENY AFRO). Its a little tedious, but can be done faster than the twist out of you make your coils big. Peep the instuctions below:
Roller/Straw set:
Wash, condition, moisturize you hair. Leaving your hair wet, use perm rods or flexi-rods to roller set your hair. Two tutorials this time:
Heres an idea:
Set your braids/twists in roller sets! Of course for the look to last, the hair should be wet and moisturized before roller setting, but it looks great!!!

This one takes the cake for most expensive way to curl 4 a/b/c hair (Its over $50). But from the results I've seen some people get, its more of an investment than anything. When I first heard about curlformers, I was convinced that it didn't work on my hair type (4a/b). Someone on youtube proved me wrong:
OH and FYI I hear Magic Leverage makes curlers just like the curlformers and cheaper!

My Kinks Shrink: the monologue
I have one problem. My problem is this:
Women who have a 4a/b/c texture don't exist.
Yeah I said that!
It seems that somewhere or sometime during the natural haircare revolution, us ladies of category four have been forgotten. The ladies with a minimal curl pattern. The ones that can't use the curly puddings or do the wet sets. The ones who step in the shower with six inch hair and step out with a corporate fro. The ones who began the natural haircare movement.
Look: I have nothing against curly puddings, hair categories, or even perms. In fact, the curly girl movement taught me a lot about my hair type and structure. But, while coils and kinks are similar, they are not the same! So, despite all the hair styling information available for natural divas, most of the time, it doesn't even apply to me.
And so I have reached a conclusion:
Ladies with 4a/b/c hair don't exist.
NOT!!!!
We do! I do! So don't count me out just yet!!
I've decided to share all my hair styling ideas and they are compatible with ALL hair types. Ladies of the fourth category. Look no more!!
